Soils study and percolation test
A geotechnical soils study (mecánica de suelos) for the structural design, and a percolation test for the septic design.
Why it matters
Permit offices ask for them, and the structural and septic designs depend on them.
Who helps
A licensed engineering firm does both tests. Your structural engineer and architect use the results.
What to do: Order the soils study and percolation test once land use is approved.
Documents
- The land-use approval (step 4.12) and the site plan.
Common mistakes
- Paying for these studies before land use (step 4.12) and any dispensa (step 4.11) are approved.
Say it in Spanish
- ¿Una sola visita puede cubrir la mecánica de suelos y la prueba de percolación?
Can one site visit cover both the soils study and the percolation test?
